Summary

The Rondel is a thinktank for physicians, researchers, reporters. The individual writer in The Rondel is responsible for his material, his conclusions, his values. Thus, quotations and comments should have a precise reference to The Rondel with name of author, topic, headline, volume, electronic address, e.g.:

Norberg B, Artificial aborigines, Health, vol 19, www.rondellen.net

If it is obvious from the context that the source is the Norberg analysis of modern abuse of the aborigine concept, a shorter reference may be used:

(Health, vol 19, www.rondellen.net)

In papers for scientific journals, the reference in the Vancouver style may be copied from the top of the article in The Rondel.

History

Aims The scope of The Rondel is to evaluate the scientific development concerning vitamin B12 (deficiency, diagnosis, management) for primary health care. The analysis is focused on cobalamin, folate and pyridoxine. Homocysteine is considered a valuable deficiency marker of vitamin B12 and folate. Deficiency states are associated with age, gender, society, economy, and culture. Thus, the columns of Health and Culture are included.

Design The Rondel provides popular science online. In the period 1999-2005 (vol 1-25), it was a quarterly. From 2006 (vol 26), it is an annual journal. The style of quotation suggested in the title of each article conforms to the Vancouver system of references used by most scientific journals. Link to previous contributions under the same heading is provided at the top of the front paper.

Setting Swedish national and global, with a Swedish and an English edition. The editions are not identical; they are complementary. As rare exceptions, contributions in English are found in the Swedish edition.

Results In the period 2001-2004, The Rondel was visited by 1000-3000 unique computers each month, viewing 2000-12000 pages a month. Approximately 60% of the visitors were from Sweden . International visitors came mainly from America , Europe, and Japan . From Oct, 2005 to March 2006, The Rondel was visited by 5000-9000 readers each month, viewing 11000-17000 pages monthly. Now the number of visitors ranges between 6000 and 12000 per month.

Conclusion The Rondel serves as a link between homocysteine research and primary health care for mutual exchange of ideas and experience.
